Qatar has been host the FIFA World Cup in 2022, making it the first Arab country to do so. This will be the first time the World Cup is held in the Middle East. Qatar was chosen as the host country over bids from the United States, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.

The Qatar bid was seen as controversial from the beginning. There were allegations of bribery and corruption surrounding the bid process. Qatar has also been criticized for its treatment of migrant workers. Human rights groups have accused Qatar of using forced labor to build stadiums and other infrastructure for the World Cup.

“FIFA is not a political organization, we are not here to judge how countries are governed,” Infantino said.

“Of course it’s true that there are issues in Qatar, as there are issues in other countries around the world, but I think it would be unfair to single out Qatar.”

The FIFA president also praised Qatar for its “ambitious” plans to improve conditions for migrant workers, saying that the country had made “great progress” in the seven years since it was awarded the World Cup.

“I am convinced that the World Cup in Qatar will be a fantastic event and it will leave a great legacy, not just in Qatar but in the whole region,” Infantino said.

Gianni Infantino was born in 1970 in the Swiss town of Brig to a poor family of Italian immigrants. He was the youngest of four children. His father worked as a stone mason and his mother was a housewife. Gianni Infantino, global football’s unrepentant boss grew up in a small apartment with no running water or indoor plumbing. 

He attended a local primary school and then a secondary school in Brig. From an early age, he showed an interest in football and played for a local youth team. In 1988, he enrolled in the University of Neuchatel to study law.
