Omaha Professional Volleyball Team Signs First Former Husker

The Omaha professional volleyball team has signed its first former Husker, outside hitter Kelsey Mancuso. And Mancuso, a 2011 first-team All-American at Nebraska, And the first of several former Huskers expected to sign with the Omaha team, which is part of the new Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF).
The PVF is a six-team league that is scheduled to begin play in February 2024. The other teams in the league are Atlanta, San Diego, Orlando, Grand Rapids, and Columbus (Ohio).
Mancuso, who is 6-foot-3, And was a two-time All-Big Ten selection at Nebraska. And She led the Huskers in kills in 2010 and 2011. She was also a member of the USA Volleyball Women’s National Team in 2011.
After her college career, Mancuso played professionally in Turkey, Italy, and China. She most recently played for the Shanghai Volleyball Club in China.
“I’m excited to be a part of the first professional volleyball league in the United States,” And Mancuso said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to playing in front of my hometown fans and helping to build a championship team.”
The Omaha team is being coached by Shelton Collier, who was the head coach at the University of Nebraska from 2009 to 2018. Collier led the Huskers to the NCAA Tournament in each of his nine seasons at Nebraska.
The PVF is hoping to capitalize on the growing popularity of women’s volleyball in the United States. The sport has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, thanks in part to the success of the USA Women’s National Team. The team won the FIVB World Championship in 2014 and the Olympic gold medal in 2016.
The PVF is hoping to attract top players from around the world to its league. The league is also hoping to attract fans by offering affordable tickets and family-friendly entertainment.
The Omaha team is expected to play its home games at the CHI Health Center Omaha.
The PVF is still in its early stages, but it has the potential to become a major force in women’s volleyball. The league has the backing of several major sponsors, including Nike, Gatorade, and Wilson Sporting Goods.
